In a tiny village next to a quiet forest, there lived a boy named Deedle. His full name was John Deedle, but since his father also went by John, the little one got stuck with "Deedle." His dad thought it suited him fine, claiming that Deedle was a big, sturdy lad, just like him. So, it made sense for him to carry on the family name.
Dad John was the toughest woodcutter in town, and Deedle, was the youngest woodchopper apprentice ever seen in the area in years. The kid was naturally strong, and his old man had trained him up good.
Despite his size, Deedle was a shy one. Talking to folks and making friends wasn't his strong suit, unlike his sister Lizzie. Lizzie was a chip off their mom's block - lively, bright, and small. Everyone adored her, including Deedle, though he'd never admit it. That'd only go to her head.
